Sea World Discovery Cove

Sea World Discovery Cove is a park unlike any other in the Orlando, Florida area.  In fact, if you want to swim with dolphins, I don’t think any other such park in Florida even comes close.

Let’s take a look at what makes Discovery Cove at Sea World Orlando so different.

What is Discovery Cove?

First, what exactly is Discovery Cove, and why is it so different from the other Central Florida theme parks?

First, it’s pretty small — only 30 acres in size.  But boy do they pack a lot of magic into those 30 acres!

Discovery Cove is a “get wet” park, but not a waterslide.  Instead, it’s a snorkel, swim and beach park.  For example, you can:

  • Float on a tropical river.
  • Snorkle with topical fish and rays.
  • Explore tropical reefs and grottos.
  • Swim with dolphins (extra fee applies).
  • Relax on a sun-drenched beach.

And herre’s something that’s really nice; you will only share the park with a maximum of 1,000 other guests on any given day.  Yes, Discovery Cove has a cap on the number of people permitted per day, so you get a richer experience.

More About Sea World Discovery Cove

So now you know what makes this park different from the rest.  But I’m thinking you’d like a little more info.

What about food?  Discovery Cove is a wee bit different than your standard theme park.  You get a small continental breakfast, lunch, beverages and a few snacks during the day, at no extra charge.  How nice!

There are also a few more items that are included with your day at the park.  You have to bring your own bathing suit, but the following is included with your ticket:

  • Locker for your clothes.
  • Sunscreen (all-important in Florida).
  • Towel.
  • Mask, snorkel and swim vest.

Two other items to mention that are included with your ticket:

  • Free parking.
  • A 1-day pass to any of the other Sea World family of theme parks (Sea World, Aquatica or Busch Gardens).

So that’s the Sea World Discovery Cove experience; way different from all the others.  Here’s where you can find out more about Discovery Cove ticket prices.  No, it’s not cheap, but it’s something you’ll remember for forever.
