About MeThere is a real person behind all these writings and bloggings and such, so here’s a little about me.

My name is Gail Nettles, and I’ve lived in Florida my whole life. I grew up in Orlando, went to school in Gainesville and now live here in South Florida. Three very different parts of the state!

When I lived in Orlando, I worked at Disney World for a few years — my first real job (a pretty good one, too). So, I have a website about Disney World, too — www.great-disney-vacations.com which you’re most welcome to visit!

I’ve been married for 16 years now to the most wonderful husband in the world. David and I met at work, got married, and then got to live our days with each other, both at work and home. While it’s not something I’d recommend to many couples, it did work for us. And actually still does. While I am employed outside the house, I get to do my job at home. And David now works from home as an entrepreneur. So once again, we live with each other 24/7. (You can see David’s website and blog at www.businessathomeincome.com)

Let’s see, what else? Some of my hobbies include lampworking (making glass beads), reading, traveling and of course — building websites and blogs. I have quite a few blogs, but right now only 2 that I seriously work. The others I post my articles on.

Lampwork Beads — AquaticaBut first the lampworking — making the glass beads. It’s rather interesting; I start with a rod of glass, a little thicker than a pencil. Then I melt that glass using a torch and twirl it around a mandrel (which makes the hole in the bead). After getting the glass all in place the way I want, I decorate it then pop it in the kiln. Once it’s finished “cooking” in the kiln and has cooled down — finished beads.

The photo you see is one of the many sets I’ve made — click for a larger picture. I generally sell my work on ebay.

I like traveling around Florida, especially in North Florida and the Panhandle. Not sure if it’s because it’s so very different than Central and South Florida, or because in general, it’s less crowded. And the fact there there are all kinds of “outdoorsy” things to do certainly helps. There are a zillion State Parks in North and Panhandle Florida, so there are plenty of places to wander.

This blog, “Really, Florida!” is a part of my website www.great-florida-vacations.com where I go more in-depth about various places and things to do around the state. Here on this blog I tend to be less formal.

I do operate yet another website (aside from Great Disney Vacations and Great Florida Vacations) — it’s www.losing-weight-over-40.com and has an associated blog (http://blog.losing-weight-over-40.com). That’s also one I operate from the heart, as I am over 40 and have had a lot of weight to lose. It’s a site about the struggles of losing weight once you’re over 40 years old — and how it’s tough to lose over 40 pounds. Hints, tips, exercises and supplements are all covered.

(If you want to know more about how I build my websites, check out the system I use at Site-Sell. Great for absolute beginners who know zero about building a website, to more seasoned people [like me] to the people who truly want to push the limits of webdom.)

If you’d like to contact me, you can use the “Comments and Questions ” form on the Great Florida Vacations website. Naturally, you’re also welcome to post comments on the blog entries, too.
