Quiet Florida Beaches
Quiet Florida beaches — are there any? With a population of 15 million residents, and uncounted millions of visitors, how could there be any spots where you only hear the wind and the waves?
Surprise! There are plenty of Florida beaches that are calm and serene. How about we take a look at three of them?
3 Quiet Florida Beaches to Enjoy
MacArthur Beach State Park is one of my absolute favorites! Located in SE Florida, between Jupiter and West Palm Beach, this gem of a beach is wonderful. There is a “worm reef” offshore that’s interesting, if not colorful like the coral reefs farther south. Every time I’ve been there, the beach has only had a handful of people present.
The downsides are that you have to pay to get in the park, and that the beach is accessed by a long walkway — if you’re carrying a lot of items, that can be a problem. However, there is a tram that goes back and forth, and it operates on donations. Otherwise it’s a nice walk.
Even on a beautiful Saturday in May, Fredrick Douglas Memorial Beach, near to Ft. Pierce, had very few people. I’ve been to this beach at other times of the year as well, and I haven’t yet seen many people at any time. And I’ll tell you this — the shelling on this beach is awesome! It has Sanibel beat. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the sound of the wind and waves.
Cocoa Beach in Central Florida has been pretty quiet most times I’ve been there, as long as you don’t access it from near to one of the big resorts. I’m guessing part of the reason is the parking meters that grace the smaller access points. However, the meter prices are reasonable. The surf is a little higher on average than the beaches farther to the south, and when the waves are up, there is some decent surfing to be had as well.
There you have it — three quiet Florida beaches to enjoy — and in South and Central Florida yet! I’ll have more beautiful stretches of sand to report back to you in other posts. Enjoy!
Seaside Florida Vacation
A seaside Florida vacation appeals to a lot of people. Our beaches here are beautiful, with stretches of sand, warm waters and plenty of sunshine. And with over 600 miles of beaches, there’s at least one to suit any personality.
Popular Florida Beaches
Some of the more popular beaches for a seaside Florida vacation are Clearwater Beach, Daytona Beach and Cocoa Beach. Sanibel Island is a gem on the SW Florida Gulf Coast, along with Naples and the Ft. Myers area in general.
Of course, there are always the stretches of sand like Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. And if you’d like to see one of the prettiest beaches in Florida, check out Bahia Honda in the Florida Keys (you can rent a seaside cabin).
The Florida Panhandle
From Pensacola to Panama City there are plenty of Florida vacation spots. Some of the more popular are Panama City Beach, Pensacola Beach, Destin and Ft. Walton Beach.
But don’t forget about a place like Grayton Beach State Park — another place to rent a cabin by the sea.
One thing about the Florida Panhandle beaches that I love — the sand is so soft and white, and the beaches are very wide! A far cry from the majority of the Atlantic Coast beaches in Florida.
A Seaside Florida Vacation
Once you’ve picked your spot, the next thing is to decide on your accommations. Do you like a big resort? A bed and breakfast? Perhaps renting a condo or a vacation house for a week? And of course, Florida beach camping.
Not all locations will have all options, so you may have to make some compromises. For example, you’re not likely to find a bed and breakfast on the sand in a place like Daytona Beach. But you can find quite a few within walking distance. On the other hand, if you’d like a tropical resort, Key West resorts have some awesome options.
A seaside Florida vacation can be a magical experience, if you choose the spot that is best for you and your preferences. Enjoy your great Florida beach vacation!
