Sanibel Island — Time’s Almost Up!

It’s almost time to venture over to Sanibel Island — the island’s tourist season is almost over now, and that means lower prices on the various hotels, cottages, condos and such. Yay!

Sanibel Island, located on the Gulf of Mexico on Florida’s Southwest coast, is absolutely gorgeous. It’s also terribly crowded and pricey during the winter months, when it’s a popular destination for northern tourists. Nice if you can afford it, but expensive for mere mortals like me.

The prices drop soon, sometimes by over $100 a night compared to what they were just a few weeks ago. Now it’s almost reasonable to spend a couple of days on Sanibel and its neighboring Captiva Island.

The beaches on Sanibel are the big draw, but more for their shelling than anything else. If you’d like to get away from the crowds, head on over to Captiva’s beaches, just a short drive away.

If Sanibel sounds intriguing, check out some prices and availability for different Sanibel hotels and even condos.  Prices start going down in April and keep going down into the Summer.
